Organized by Adam Wiseman, Digital Learning and Innovation Coordinator, McDowell County Schools and Stacy Lovdahl, Educator on Loan, NCDPI Digital Teaching and Learning, our goal is to provide teachers with access to the expertise of North Carolina educators and beyond, who are successfully using virtual/distance learning tools and strategies.Mrs. Cheryl Rhea serves as the AIG Coordinator for Newton-Conover City Schools. In this role, Mrs. Rhea oversees services for all K-12 students in her district. She teaches all academically gifted fourth and fifth grade students through a pull-out enrichment program. Mrs. Rhea also serves as the math liaison for her district. This role allows her to provide curriculum support to math teachers as well as assisting in vertical alignment. Prior to joining Newton-Conover, Mrs. Rhea served as a high school math teacher for 18 years at Hickory City Public Schools.
Mrs. Rhea currently serves as an AIG state lead for the Northwest Region of North Carolina. In this role, she works closely with NCDPI to share information and support other AIG Coordinators in her region. Mrs. Rhea also enjoys teaching for Northwest Regional Educational Service Alliance. She co-teaches an AIG licensure course to teachers in her region.
Mrs. Rhea holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and Mathematics from Appalachian State University. She completed her Master’s Degree in Gifted Education at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte.
