You will then be able to Add sessions to your schedule and get virtual meeting access information specific to each session.

⭐️Once you add a session to your Schedule, it virtually "reserves" your spot. If you are unable to attend one of your reserved sessions, please remove it from your Schedule ASAP. In addition, we have limited access to only allow for adding one session per time slot.
⭐️Sessions marked as Full, will NOT BE ABLE TO BE JOINED.
⚠️Due to the virtual, open nature of our event, reserving your virtual seat does not necessarily guarantee your spot in the presenter’s chosen video conference platform. Both the presenters and event facilitators are not responsible for guaranteeing your virtual seat. We have tried to employ strategies to reduce the chance of this from happening.

The "Beauty" of Connecting Literacy and 3-D Design

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
We will be presenting an overview of our School Wide Read with the book Beauty and the Beak. This book allowed us to connect literacy and STEAM in a unique way with our students and faculty. After reading the book about an injured eagle that required a 3-D printed beak in order to survive, students were given different scenarios of injured animals (stuffed animals missing limbs, tails, etc.), and tasked with designing their own 3-D models as solutions for survival. We will have the winning models for participants to examine, a 3-D printer printing a design, and additional book titles that incorporate literacy and STEAM topics where 3-D printers have solved unusual problems for animals. A brief demo of the 3-D design software will be given and participants will be encouraged to create their own design. All materials presented will be shared so that participants can use these ideas within their own schools.
