You will then be able to Add sessions to your schedule and get virtual meeting access information specific to each session.

⭐️Once you add a session to your Schedule, it virtually "reserves" your spot. If you are unable to attend one of your reserved sessions, please remove it from your Schedule ASAP. In addition, we have limited access to only allow for adding one session per time slot.
⭐️Sessions marked as Full, will NOT BE ABLE TO BE JOINED.
⚠️Due to the virtual, open nature of our event, reserving your virtual seat does not necessarily guarantee your spot in the presenter’s chosen video conference platform. Both the presenters and event facilitators are not responsible for guaranteeing your virtual seat. We have tried to employ strategies to reduce the chance of this from happening.

Seeing Clearly What Our Students Know: Engaging Assessment Choices for 3-8th Graders

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Describe how you intend to actively involve session participants and what they will learn during your presentation. The key word here is "actively" - we're looking for engaged learners, not a Powerpoint presentation. (This section will be used by NCTies staff in the selection process and so will not be seen by attendees.)

Session participants will receive an overview of engaging assessment strategies, opportunities, and test alternatives including, building game based activities, iMovie, Google My Maps, Google Sites, FlipGrid, and Scratch. Presenters will then discuss successful grading and student reflection techniques with participants. (While grading will be discussed, the focus of the session will be on assessment strategies due to various grading policies throughout the state.)

Participants will also learn to build a network of inspiration via popular educator social media accounts and hashtags.

After the overview, participants can break out into work sessions with presenter support. This will provide time for participants to collaborate, review resources, ask questions, and prepare activities for their own students with guidance from presenters and their peers. During this work time, there will also be a back channel discussion for teachers to share grading techniques and strategies that have been or may be effective for alternative assessing activities.

The session will conclude with a 5 minute assessment period in which participants will engage in first hand alternative assessing experience by showing what they know via one of the shared strategies, or one they come up with on their own.
